Crowns are covers that fit over your teeth to restore and strengthen them. Some reasons for choosing crowns are to cover discolored or unevenly shaped teeth, to protect weak or decayed teeth, to restore a fractured tooth, to attach a bridge or to strengthen teeth after a root canal treatment.

Crowns can be made of different materials, including acrylic, metal and porcelain. All porcelain crowns are a good choice for front teeth as they look the most natural. If you are missing teeth, dental bridges could be an excellent option for you. Bridges are fixed in placed and supported on either side by your adjacent teeth, which may be supported with a crown or an implant. Bridges are made to look and feel like your natural teeth, they function like teeth, are extremely durable and not removable. This cosmetic treatment option not only will restore your smile, it can also improve speaking, chewing and other problems that develop because of missing teeth. However, a bridge is not as good of an option as a dental implant. A bridge is harder to keep clean, does not look as natural as an implant, and usually will not last as long as a dental implant.
